Authors are invited to submit abstracts describing topics relevant to any of the areas below:

·Health Professions Pipeline/Diversity Programs
·Environmental Justice
·Health Policy
·Children’s Health

-Abstracts must be between 250-500 words.
- Purpose/Objective - Should be informative and short, stating why the
study/program/initiative was conducted or is being conducted;
- Material & Methods – indicate the participating institution/centre, number of
study/program/initiative participants, non-human species or material being studied, the
principal procedures, assays, tests or treatments performed;
- Results – confirming or refuting the hypothesis, supported by statistics if appropriate;
-Conclusions – stating the major new findings of the study/program/initiative and
specifying what these findings add to existing knowledge;
-Authors names and affiliations. Name of the presenting author should be underlined.
-Single-Spaced; Use 12 point Times New Roman or Arial font.
-Type the name, affiliation, complete address, telephone, fax number and email for every author listed.

ABSTRACTS DUE: SEPTEMBER 15, 2009
We are soliciting posters for the 2009 Assuring Equity Through Health and Health Care Reform Conference scientific symposium to be held in New York, NY, Friday, October 2 nd, 2009.
Topics of Interest
The Poster presentations should incorporate current information in any of the following areas:
·Public Health/Community Health
·Health Care and Health Quality Research
·Health Disparities/ Health Inequities
·Social Determinants of Health
·Sexual & Reproductive Health/Women’s Health
·Health Professions Pipeline/Diversity Programs
·Environmental Justice
·Health Policy
·Children’s Health
·Immigrant Health
Poster Guidelines
Posters should be:
• Brief and able to communicate the topic clearly
• Easy to read from 4 to 6 feet away
• Stand-alone for tabletop display, no wider than 36” when standing; or suitable for easel display (please indicate
whether easel or table-top)
Presenters are encouraged to be present at their poster during the designated poster sessions for the conference. Poster Sessions are Oct. 1st from 11:30 am - 12:45 pm and Oct. 2nd 12 noon to 1:30 pm. Posters may be left up throughout the conference and must be taken down by 4:30 pm.
Posters should reflect integrative approaches to individual and community health promotion using evidence-based research, interventions, intervention guided-research, and health policy advocacy are also encouraged.
All posters should be well organized, evaluated and ranked for originality, quality, topic applicability, and relation to the goals of the conference.
***Students are especially encouraged to submit posters pertaining to their academic/co-curricular research. Three student finalists will receive awards for their abstracts and presentations. Student awards will be determined on the basis of presentation, style, and knowledge of the subject matter. The finalists will be awarded prizes in the amount of: $150 - 1st place, $125 - 2nd place, $50 - 3rd place.
